Karhu x Punkalive

If we go back about hundred years in time you might know that the first Karhu products were made out of Finnish wood. The Finnish birch (from the sunny side) made the javelins and discuses fly further and the skis to glide more efficient. Now Karhu wanted to pay homage to their heritage and teamed up with the Finnish design firm Punkalive. The result is a sneaker with wooden midsole. May us present the Fulcrum Star Punkalive!

The shoe has a quality leather upper and wooden component on the midsole. The Fulcrum Star Punkalive is highly limited to only 180 pairs worldwide. Act fast!

Sneakersnstuff at 21 Mercer - The Grand Finale

As you know Erik and Peter were invited by Nike Sportswear to design their own Nike Bespoke Air Force 1 a couple of months ago at the 21 Mercer store in New York. The shoes have now turned up in Stockholm and both Erik and Peter as super satisfied with the outcome. What do you think about them?

Nike Bespoke Air Force 1 by Peter

The idea behind the design is that I wanted to have a pair of Air Force 1's that I can wear on an everyday basis as well as getting married in. I went for the deconstructed version of the Bespoke Air Force 1, deconstructed meaning no lining and a leather inside out midsole. It's simple but yet very premium. Just as I like it! Of course I was also tempted to go for this version when I heard from the guys at 21 Mercer that they only produce 30 pairs of the deconstructed Bespoke Nike Air Force 1 during 2012 and that it comes in a nice wooden box. I'm a sucker for that sort of things!

Nike Bespoke Air Force 1 by Erik

Walking into the ID-studio I had no idea what I was supposed to do. There were a few options of premium materials, deconstructed versions and such but at the end I settled for the combination of cork and premium leather. But to make it not look like a inline shoe I added some dark loden green to it. I am most pleased with the personal touch of adding the two hearts on the back. One C for Charlie and one E for Elton. I matched that with the birthdays of my two sons on the lace jewels. Thank you Nike Sportswear for giving us the opportunity to do this and thank you to the 21 Mercer crew for your help and hospitality.

adidas Originals Consortium - Your Story

When adidas Originals brought the Consortium line back last fall with the Tabula Rasa project, they started over with a clean slate. For the second drop of the adidas Consortium range they have invited nine partners to fill in the canvas. This time the partners were chosen from Olympic cities around the world, from Los Angeles to Stockholm, and they now together presents the new project Your Story.

As we are getting closer to the Olympics the partners were asked to create something inspired by their own memories from the past Olympics. You can read more about the inspiration of the different shoes below.

As adidas only invited nine partners into this project they are designing the tenth shoe by themselves to mark their 20th year of involvement in the Olympics. They have worked on the BC silhouette and have came up with a colorway that a lot of you adidas heads out there will love. This shoe will be available in the second drop.

It's a big variety of design in the Your Story package and we're sure that everyone can find something that they like. Drop one will be available May 19th at Sneakersnstuff.

Representing the LA contingent is soul singer / songwriter Aloe Blacc, who has risen to considerable fame over the past couple of years. Now, for Consortium SS12, he's partnered with adidas Originals to bring his own Olympic memories to the Decade Hi.

The ox blood premium leather is suggestive of African soil while the translucent gum outsole represents the bare foot of Blacc's inspiration, Ethiopian gold medalist and marathon runner Abebe Bikila, who competed in the 1960 Olympics held in Rome.

A debossed logo of Blacc's sunglasses and bow tie sits on the medial while a debossed Trefoil on the profile. Thick stitching on the midsole give it a street heavy appeal, whilst adding a touch of premium.

Kate Moross is the London based creative whose love of all things geometric has earned her a solid reputation in the design industry. Her distinctive style has her partnering up adidas Originals to interpret the BC, paying homage to the Olympics in her own graphic way.

The predominately grey suede upper features reflective triangles all over, some of  them referencing the Olympic colour-way, which pop when the light hits the surface. The grey midsole anchors the look, as do the grey laces, although this version of the BC also comes with a bonus pack containing a selection of bright laces with alternating aglet colours. A bright green fabric loop tag on the heel tab and red one on the tongue featuring Kate Moross's logo complete this quirky shoe.

Berlin native and sneaker collector Quote is passionate about the ZX 500 running silhouette and brings his enthusiasm to the table to design his own version for Consortium 2012. This version remains loyal to the '80s original using a mix of nylon and mesh throughout.

Quote's muted colour-way is directly influenced by the blue and white track of the Berlin Olympic Stadium, where his favourite football team are based and a place he spends a lot of his time in, with the pertinent Olympic colours thrown in on the outsole. On the inside of the tongue's fabric loop tag sits a fist tattooed with Quote's namesake.

DJ Muro has partnered up with adidas Originals to create a bold and, as he describes it, 'aggressive' version of the Pro Shell with its strong and deep colour choices of dark green, black and pops of red.

Overall, Muro's Pro Shell is understated, but bursts of detail are found throughout, like the jersey material covering the ankle padding that features engineered stripes reminiscent of a track top's cuff. Additionally, Muro's modus operandi can be found on the laces, snakeskin-effect is used on the 3-stripes and unfastening of the velcro reveals bright colours underneath.

A Muro skull and crossbones logo sits on the heel for a tough looking street shoe that represents Tokyo for Consortium SS12.

Such an understated sneaker like the Matchplay needs to be treated with finesse and Jim Thompson of Sydney label Three Over One has done just that, sticking to his uncomplicated design aesthetic.

Thompson's own style is heavily influenced by the past; from the worn-in workmanship right down to the attitude and it's all evident in his interpretation of the Matchplay for Consortium SS12. Thompson looked back to the adidas archives of track and field shoes from the '30s as inspiration, and has used very subtle waxed leather on most of the upper which gives it a vintage look. A matching pigskin suede toebox shows impeccable attention to detail while the lack of lining gives it a handcrafted feel.

Denim Demon Jeans x Petter

Denim Demon has teamed up with the Swedish rap artist Petter to create a special version of the classic Denim Demon jeans model Aajja.

”- This is my view of a perfect pair of jeans, perfect fit, great quality and nice details”, says Petter. ”- Black and yellow is the combination I wear the most, so why not make a pair of jeans in my favorite colors?”

Aajja has a straight fit with a normal waist and a button fly. The fabric from Japanese Kurabo is a 14 oz raw black denim with red selvage. Some other details is the Petter name label and the yellow and white checkered pockets.

”- We wanted to do it 100% Petter, so he has told us exactly how he wanted it to look like and we have delivered exactly like that!", says Anton Olsson, designer at Denim Demon.

The Denim Demon Aajja Petter jeans will be produced in 200 pairs and the price will be 1499 SEK/149 EUR.

On the 5th of May Petter will come by Sneakersnstuff between 15.30-16.00 to hang out and sign the jeans. The first five customers that buy a pair of Aajja Petter will also get a signed Petter record.
